As far as rooftop dining, that is coming soon at Carolina Smokehouse, which just ar- rived on the boardwalk last year and is the midst of creating seating for 40 guests up top, where its western-style barbeque will be an enticement for diners. On ursdays at the boardwalk's gazebo stage during the summer, the "Sounds of Summer" concert series is paired with fire- works, though Carolina Beach never quite had a tune of its own short of 1969's Harold Nail song once performed by Tex Chaddock, titled "Carolina Beach." e song, which is 1969 reportedly had "brisk sales" and "heavy demand" on radio, is a story of infidelity where the singer laments the "temptation" that led him to remove his wedding ring and lose his "sweet, sweet wife" after running into a girl named Holly. "Hey man, this girl's from Raleigh," goes one of the verses. Back at Havana's, Whiteley, the trans- plant from Maryland, couldn't be happier with her arrival to Carolina Beach along with her finance, Shawn, she said. "e people," she said when asked about her favorite thing at Carolina Beach. "Every- one's laid back. … It's a city with an airport and a beach.
