Check out our digital editions at 27587magazine.com and mobilemagz.com W hether building a "dream home" or acquiring one, the task has always been something of a nail-biter. And here in North Carolina — which has been a top in-bound state for new arrivals for a quarter century now — and the Triangle in particular, finding a home with just the right fit can be, well, unnerving. So, join us as we delve into our cover story, "e Hunt," for a little hand-holding. While we're at it, we're also happy to note that the issue you're holding in your hand at this moment is in fact our largest to date, packed with original and timeless features we hope you'll enjoy for many years to come. (Yes, we know you save them.) In this edition, for starters, we talk to the Raleigh son whose father snapped pictures of Betty Grable, the pinup girl with "the million- dollar legs," during a N.C. wartime stopover. Look for it in "Rewind." In our regular "Field Trip" feature, we delve into an off-the-beaten-path small town named Macclesfield, whose homespun "miracle" once made the cover of Better Homes & Gardens magazine and today is led by the youngest of mayors. And this being our home edition, don't miss "is Classic Place," which this time sheds light on a spanking new Greek Revival that today masquerades as a century-old one, and gander at the latest neighborhood arrivals in our "New Home Sampler." Again, too, we'd like to express our thanks to our "Publisher's Circle," those civic-minded entities whose annual commitment to advertise in 27587 MAGAZINE once again makes them partners in bringing this magazine to you, our readers. See who they are on Page 57. While we're at it, we'd like to extend an invitation to more of our top corporate citizens to join 27587 Magazine in this endeavor. So, put down the phone and kick back in that comfy chair or cushy sofa and enjoy "places to explore and discoveries to be made" right here in our neck of the North Carolina Piedmont. Philip M. Read Editor & Publisher "It's a conspiracy, I tell you. e minute you start, they put you on the all-American sucker list. You start out to build a home and wind up in the poorhouse. And if it can happen to me, what about the guys who aren't making $15,000 a year? e ones who want a home of their own. It's a conspiracy, I tell you — against every boy and girl who were ever in love." — Cary Grant in the 1948 film comedy "Mr. Blandings Builds his Dream House" Next advertising deadline: June 2 Reserve early!
