30 Autumn 2017 | Wake Forest 27587 Magazine The Greason House Three decades ago, current owners 'fell in love' with home connected to a sports legend S T his is the place Murray Greason came home to as a school boy, years before the all-star athlete of the 1920s took up the coach's mantle and became "the father of big-time basketball" at old Wake Forest College. It turns out Greason's father, George Henry Greason, occupied the circa 1902 house, on what was then known as Wake Forest's Faculty Avenue, by virtue of his new position as superintendent of the Royall Cotton Mill. "It was like a fringe benefit," the coach's son, Murray Greason Jr., said of the Italianate-style house's place in family history.
