68 Summer 2017 | Wake Forest 27587 Magazine Events Things to do in 27587 and beyond Friday Nights on the Tar Friday, July 21, 6-9 p.m., Friday, Sept. 15, 6-9 p.m. Historic downtown Louisburg — the county seat of Franklin County — will be rocking on the third Friday of each month through September, with a lineup of free concerts coinciding with the arrival of the county's first brewery and tap room, Tar Banks Brewing. The free events — running from 6 to 9 p.m. — continue with Adult Supervision & Ted Jones and the Tarheel Boys on July 21, The Johnny Folsome 4 on Aug. 18, and the East Coast Rhythm & Blues Band on Sept. 15. Local craft beer and food trucks will add to the festivities. Concerts in the Park PHOTOGRAPHS BY JOE MARTINSON / TOWN OF WAKE FOREST Sunday, Aug. 6 and Sept. 3, 5 p.m. Bring your family and friends, a picnic and a blanket, and relax with free concerts at E. Carroll Joyner Park, starting off in August with the West African sounds of Diali Cissokho and Austin McCall and ending in September with the old-time country music of The Piney Woods Boys. The free performances, in the Joyner Park Amphitheater, are compliments of Wake Forest, Wake Forest ARTS, PineCone, and United Arts of Raleigh & Wake County. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase. Second Friday of each month, 6 p.m. Downtown Wake Forest will be rockin' with a variety of premier local and regional bands in its highly popular series "Friday Night on White" along South White Street through September. The free concerts, presented by White Street Brewing Co., are to include classic and modern rock, dance, Motown, and beach music. The series continues with Big Love on July 14, Love Tribe on Aug. 11, and Crush on Sept. 8 Friday Night on White Family Movie Nights Saturdays, July 29, Aug. 12, 8:30 p.m. Enjoy a movie under the stars! The ongoing Family Movie Nights at Joyner Parks continues at E. Carroll Joyner Park, 701 Harris Road. The series – sponsored by the Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department – continues on July 29 and Aug. 12. Showtime is 8:30 p.m. but arrive early. Bring a blanket or lawn chair.
