"It's really a lot of regulars," barista Lony Romero said of the clientele, "but we also get a lot of tourists." The 17-year-old native admits to a fondness for travel to such places as New York, yet adds a "but." "It's a nice place to come home to," she said. Little Washington — population, 9,744; location: on the shore of the Pamlico River — is known by some as "The Heart of the Inner Banks." Above is a picturesque walkway along the marina.
