66 Winter 2019 | Wake Forest 27587 Magazine Undergrads from the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary no doubt once gazed out this window on Wake Forest's North Avenue when it opened in 1957 as a bookstore run by Dick Stevens That reign lasted 23 years. The circa 1897 three-story brick building, whose incarnations have included a general store and pharmacy, was also known as The Corner ice cream shop, run by Kathaleen Chandley, serving 18 flavors for 25 years. Today, workmen are more likely to be gazing out amid an ongoing historic renovation by owners Marty and Debbie Lucas. The view, left, seen only by showroom sales people and those with a desire for sporty Mini Coopers at Flow Mini Cooper of Raleigh, a place for buyers, as the ad copy goes, who want to partake of "endless possibilities."
